NORMAN, OK, December 15, 2020 — Evangel University announced their partnership with TEL Education, a non-profit curriculum and educational technology organization, to provide innovative, online dual-credit courses to Missouri high school students.
Through the partnership, TEL will provide its catalog of mastery-based, online general education course materials and work with Evangel University administration and faculty to customize TEL content to align with the university’s specific academic and program goals. With this expanded catalog, high school students in Missouri and across the country can access affordable dual credit and experience Evangel’s commitment to excellence.
“The opportunity to enhance our dual enrollment course offerings is strategic and timely,” said Chris Belcher, vice president of enrollment at EU. “Our goal is to make a college education as accessible and cost-effective for our students as possible.”
According to TEL Executive Director, Dr. Rob Reynolds, TEL Education’s partnership with Evangel University is an important part of the organization’s mission to make college study affordable to everyone in the U.S. “Evangel’s vision for serving students and ensuring their success aligns perfectly with TEL’s mission to provide equitable access to college studies. Working together, our two organizations can make a big difference in Missouri and beyond. We are particularly excited about the university’s commitment to reaching underserved student populations throughout the state.”
The partnership will help Evangel University provide an online learning experience that is consistent with the university’s commitment to helping students acquire the knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to thrive in the 21st century. “TEL course materials are designed to promote demonstrable evidence of student learning, both in the form of traditional assessments and our rubric-based Mastery Assignments,” said Reynolds. “Equally important, our Mastery Assignments are aligned to specific 21st-century skills and competencies. This means that in addition to the information they are learning, students are developing the important Essential, Thinking, and Professional skills needed for success in today’s world.”
“This initiative demonstrates Evangel’s focus on reducing the overall cost and time to degree completion for our undergraduate programs,” said Mark Fabian, EU’s director of strategic partnerships and digital learning. “An early start to college is a head start on a future career.”
