ELP Artifacts: Introduction to Information Technology

Students will create a product for a local organization such as an informational website that can be used to communicate with the community. Students will work through a design thinking process and create a proposal, a project plan, a proof of concept – which they will present to the client – and then a final working product.

Mini-Assignment 1

Assignment Summary: Students will meet with leaders of a local organization and identify an issue they face that could be resolved with an IT solution. This IT solution will be the student’s final project for the course.

Assignment Summary: In this assignment, students will use their problem-solving skills to develop a variety of ways that the issue they found in Assignment 1 can be resolved. Students will come up with an overall design plan, meet with organizational leaders to confirm the design plan, and make any necessary adjustments to fit the needs of the organization.

Assignment Summary: Students will create a sketch prototype of the product. Then, students will show the sketch to organizational leaders, allow them to view and interact with it, and adjust the product as needed.

Assignment Summary: Students will create the full program requested by the organization. After completion, students will create training materials and execute employee training for all organizational employees.
