The Chemistry I course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles and applications of general chemistry. This course examines topics that include composition of matter, the atom, chemical bonding, solutions, measurements, chemical nomenclature, stoichiometry, and thermochemistry. This is a three credit‐hour course; satisfactory completion of the course requires passing a midterm and a final exam.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of atomic and molecular structures and their properties.
Bloom’s level 3
Employ critical thinking skills to solve quantitative and qualitative aspects of chemical reactions.
Bloom’s level 3
Apply concepts of the quantum mechanical nature of light and matter to atomic theory and structure.
Bloom’s level 3
Apply chemical bonding to concepts of molecular geometry, polarity, and physical and chemical properties.
Bloom’s level 3
